“It’s the most wonderful time of the year”
Edward Pola and George Wyle
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree – and I don’t know the lyrics. Christmas this year is different from the past; if the last three years were filled with holiday cheer – houses were decorated with colorful Christmas lights and tinsels, carolers sang Christmas songs filled with joy, and the neighbors’ karaoke operated 24 hours – this year, laughs and cheerful noises are seldom heard, there aren’t any Christmas music playing in the background, no carolers caroling, and the spirit of festivity is nowhere to be found.
Before, we were still chatting with friends and family, and eat to our heart’s content while waiting for the clock to strike twelve. Now, at seven in the evening, we’re already putting out the dishes; had it not been for my itinerary to roast some marshmallows and make smores, we might’ve already went to bed.
Christmas was supposed to be festive, exciting, and probably noisy, but this year’s Christmas Eve? It wasn’t fun at all.
